In 486BC when Wu, the Emperor of the State, ordered the creation of the Hangou River and Hancheng City, it set into motion 2,500 years of history. It saw the prosperity of the East and West Han Dynasties, Sui Dynasty, and even the Tang Dynasty.
Many well-known scholars and poets come from Yangzhou, plus there are hundreds upon hundreds of historic sites to behold. What to Eat in Yangzhou
The cuisine here is very characteristic of both the Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces. Rich broths and an emphasis on top-quality ingredients are in order to maintain the careful composition of the dishes here. You’ll find the dishes to be braised, stewed, or roasted in technique.
